A TSA lock is a special security lock for travel luggage, which is particularly essential for international travel (especially to the USA).
The advantage:
The US security authority TSA can open the luggage for inspection if suspected and then re-lock it without damaging the lock or the suitcase. This is done using a special master key that is exclusively held by the authorities.
Why is there no key included?
Customers often wonder why their new suitcase does not come with a key. This is correct: The key lock on the TSA case is reserved solely for security personnel. You operate the lock conveniently using a personal combination code.
How do you set the TSA lock?
- Set the numbers to 0-0-0.
- Slide the button to open it to the side (or press it) and hold it. Do not release!
- Turn the dials to your desired numbers (e.g. 1-2-3). The button must remain pressed.
- Now press the large button that you normally use to open the suitcase. The small button will click back up.
- Your new code is now set.
Pro tip:
Try out the new code once while the suitcase is still open. If the zipper tabs pop in and out, you have done everything correctly. Only then close the suitcase for real!
